this is not a spanish course

...though some Spanish will probably come up along the way. I figure there are lots of courses and resources out there already, and many of them are very good.

What I propose to offer here is something rather different; something that I don't think that anyone else is doing. Part insight from years of teaching experience (with both teenagers and adults), partly drawing on my own experiences of learning Spanish and other languages, some anecdotes from things that I've noticed in Spain and amongst the Spanish and some motivational musings - this is more of a self-help sort of thing. Not so much learning Spanish, but more HOW to learn Spanish. Really learn Spanish, that is. It's in the title dude!

So here's the first point - let's have some realistic expectations! You're not going to do it in a weekend, a month or a year. That's great news - it means that you can relax and enjoy the ride; take some time to look at the scenery. It´ll give you time to save up for that house in the Picos de Europa or the villa on the Costa that you´ve always wanted! Spain is a great country - don´t rush it!
